The official club colours registered with the HRCAV are burgundy (wine) with minimal black or white trim. ie: Burgundy is the main colour.
The preferred items of clothing to be worn when competing as a Smythesdale ARC member are:
- Burgundy coloured outer top garment (jumper, pullover, windcheater, t-shirt, or vest) with white club emblem or logo. The vest may have minimal black or white trim. The club name badge may be worn on uniforms as it contains the club logo.
- White, cream, beige or black jodphurs can be worn when competing (cream/banana when showing)
White, beige and cream coloured jodhpurs are the conventional and accepted colours for competition, and may be required if you compete in Pony Club events as a Smythesdale ARC member.
Budget Embroidery in the Bridge Mall (Bakery Hill) has our club logo on computer and can embroider it onto tops and saddle blankets.
The President/Uniform Officer has T-shirts, fleecy windcheaters and vests, and cloth club badges available for purchase by club members.
The club saddle blanket is wine (maroon/burgundy) coloured with a black trim and white club logo/symbol.
THE CLUB COLOURS AND UNIFORM AS OUTLINED ABOVE MUST BE WORN WHEN COMPETING AT OFFICIAL HRCAV COMPETITIONS AND EVENTS AS A MEMBER OF SMYTHESDALE ADULT RIDERS CLUB INC.
The club saddle blanket/cloth is optional.
Helmets and Riding Boots.
Helmets with a fixed harness and approved by the HRCAV and riding boots must be worn at all times when mounted at competitions. Approved helmets and riding boots must also be worn at all times when mounted at club functions and rallies.

These standards change from time to time so it is advisable to confirm with the Club Secretary or President that your helmet is of an approved type.
Riding boots may be long or short and may be worn with chappettes or gaiters. Footwear must be boots sold as riding boots. (If you compete at any Pony Club events, be aware that chappettes are not permitted to be worn).
Blundstone and similar type work boots are not accepted as riding boots and should not be worn at rallies or in competitions.
Medical Armbands
Medical armbands must be worn at HRCAV competitions and events where jumping is involved and whenever mounted at club rallies. Your name must be clearly visible. Relevant personal medical details, emergency contact numbers, pre-existing medical conditions, allergies and reactions to medications, preferred doctor, ambulance and health service information could be included. Could be an idea to include registration numbers of float and tow vehicle in the event of your being rendered unconscious or taken to hospital.
